Do not destroy your Small Gift! Give these elusive cats instead
If you came to Destiny 2 after the release of Destiny 2: New Light, you might be wondering what is happening to all the hidden cats in Dreaming City. These stone critters are one of the strangest mysteries in the Forsen expansion, and if you play your cards right, they can also be the most rewarding. To interact with these cats, you will need “small gift” consumables that can be found around the Dreaming City. Once you master these things for farming and where to find cats, this little exchange can become a great source of Dreaming City’s unique gear. That being said, how to collect the cats here and where to find the cats to find them.
How to get A Small Gift in Destiny 2: Forsaken
The Small Gift is a random drop derived from performing several different events within Destiny 2: The Dreaming City of Forces, which includes four scaled tiers of Patrol, Lost Sector, and Blind Well. It will appear in your list as a blue rarity, which cannot be negotiated, except with the option to disintegrate it.
This is where cats come. Take one to a nearby line in the Dreaming City, and they will reward you with a legendary weapon or piece of armor, although these little furballs are not easily found. Here is an illustrated guide for those with a description of how you can get them.

Spine of Keres – Cat 1
For this first cat, spawn in Devilion Mists and head above Karen’s spine; Where a large observatory called Oracle is found on the northwest side of the map. Venture into the observatory and go to the highest platform before turning right.
Spine of Keres – Cat 2
Outside the Oracle building and in the area where you fought in A Hamp of Starlight Story Mission. Head through the crack in the northwest facing wall (if you’re facing the observatory), and follow the series of bridges and stairs until you reach a final, rocky platform.

Head through the small crack and you will see a crack at the top of the wall on the left. Jump up here, and you will find a cat sitting on a platform on the other side.
Divilian Mists – Cat 1
Look below to find a series of platforms you can descend across a small cave to enter at the end, on the northeast edge of the main plains at Devilian Mists.
Follow the cave network to the end, and a cat awaits you next to the burned structure. You can’t miss it.
Gardens of Esila – Cat 1
Travel to the right at the southern tip of the Garden of Esila, where a network of circular platforms is built opposite the edge of the map.
There is a huge rock at the north west end of the area, on top of which is a small tree. There will be a platform up to the tree, and a cat next to it.
The Strand – Cat 1
Go to the south western area of the Strand, the open door that leads into the interior of Asela’s Garden until you come to the mammoth. Instead of going from there, turn left, where there will be a cliff face.
There is another wall to the right of the rock that you will be able to scale. Aim for the tallest tree that rises from its edge, and you will build a nest behind it.
Rheasilvia – Cat 1
In the western part of the Ryasilva there is a group of high, isolated rocks below the pit below. There is an identifiable platforming path to follow here, but it is not easy, requiring reliable use of your Guardian’s hover, jump, and flight capabilities.
Eventually, you will see a flat area hidden behind one of the rocks, with a statue to set it apart from the rest. Get up there to score another cat located by the statue’s feet.
Rheasilva – Cat 2
Look for Harbinger’s Seclude in Ryasilva’s North East, and a small, dark room with a shining tree in the middle.
Tuck within the branches of the tree is another cat, but be warned; Some granular platforming is required to ensure that your guardians do not stick to one branch.
Rheasilvia – Cat 3
For this last cat, head further into the Harbinger’s Sedule, to the right at the very end of its hall, and you’ll place a giant arch on the right.
You will need to get up there, which can be done by scaling the section that meets the wall on the north east corner. Follow the arch all the way until you come across a cat on the other side.
And all! These are all hidden cat locations we have found so far, but feel free to tell us if we missed any of them. They become meaningful, as is one of the easiest ways to obtain Legendary gear in Destiny 2: Forsakened, leveling your candidate for a prematurely anticipated Final Wish Raid.
