TikTok had around 119 million active users in India and was one of the top 10 apps on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Users who still have the TikTok app on their mobile phone may still be able to use it, however, the app can no longer be downloaded. Most other Chinese apps banned in India are still available for download.
It should be noted that even if you have the app installed on your phone, you will still be able to see it on the Google Play store. The Tiktok app will not be visible once you uninstall it.
Meanwhile, TikTok responded to the move, saying that TikTok has been invited to meet with the relevant government stakeholders for the opportunity to respond and submit clarifications.
This is not the first time the app has been banned in India. Previously, the TikTok app was blocked to promote pornography content and privacy concerns, but it relied on the Play Store and App Store in a few days. The government is yet to know what is its plan to execute the ban this time.
